On my Facebook wall yesterday, every now and then a friend would pop up to say they had seen the space shuttle Discovery being piggybacked by a plane. These were not just the odd enthusiasts. This journey was photographed by hordes of people and posted around the internet. You could say it was a shared cultural moment that used the internet instead of broadcast media.
